If you’d like to come to my recital, I would like you to as well :) There is a reception to follow, so if you also like free food and beverages, then you’d really like this recital.
Clinics. The unknown. WoooOOOoooo….
I have to teach two sectionals and have a lesson with two ESL kids tomorrow. I’m excited! And scared out of my mind. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult to keep the kids in control, though I have no experience with child psychology whatsoever. How do I keep kids eager to learn about clarinet for over an hour? Hmm…
I would bribe with candy, but that’s really not good for the instruments.
I guess for now I’ll just treat them with respect, share my knowledge, and have them play a ton. Sound good? ‘Cause that’s my plan!
Also, I’ve been told they can smell fear. Fantastic.
Andrew, if I don’t show up to rehearse Glorioso, you can assume I’ve been eaten alive by these kids. If I do, it’ll be a miracle. Please pray for me.
Hmm… what to do…
…I could babble on and on, I suppose, but that wouldn’t be very much fun. I do, however, enjoy making lists. So, here are some lists that sort of have to do with myself and my life right now (not that anyone cares or anything) but I guess it could be used as sort of a reference in the future.
Things I love:
-Dann (dawww, you knew I was going to start with that one, didn’t you…)
-My family (including Peri the budgie)
-Some of my friends (I do love most of you, but some of you I need to get to know better before I use the word love, is that understood?)
-Good movies that have a good meaning attached to them
-Goodness
-Random acts of kindness
-Music and my clarinet
-Reason and logic
-The unexplainable
-Shininess and Sparkliness, also, bright colours.
-Piles of blankets and pillows that you can jump and roll around in
-Play structures
-Babbling brooks with small bridges
-Lemonade
-When you come in on a cold day, soaking wet, and you can sit in a big armchair by the fire with a blanket, a book, and a cup of hot chocolate (don’t forget the marshmallows!)
-A good drink of icy cold water
-Being cuddled and held
-Knowing what time it is
-When people leave funny comments on photos you posted
-Finding out that you’re not the only one crying after an emotional movie or TV show
-Extensions
-Inside jokes
-Having a secret admirer
-Thunderstorms
I do love a lot of things, but, as in life, there can’t be good without evil, or love without hate. So, here is yet another list looking at another side of things.
Things I hate:
-Rejection
-Miscommunication
-A few, select people
-When your pen runs out of ink while you’re filling out an important document
-Snowballs
-Fear
-Coming to the wrong conclusion
-Owing people money
-Losing someone I love (or fear of losing them)
-Idleness
-When people don’t think, or think poorly
-When people treat other people badly for no good reason
-Ungratefulness
-Studying and writing essays
-Closemindedness
-Movies that make you feel more depressed when you leave the theatre
-Blood, needles, and anything medical
-Poorly behaved audiences
That’s all I’m going to write for now. I don’t know what other lists I should make, but if you have a request, let me know.
Thanks for a nice last first post :)
